YEHAW !!! Floris again....
I am just back from the Veterinary faculty with my radiated kitty. Professor is delighted with him ( "my favourite cat!!") and we can wait 6 months till the next check-up visit now, unless something crops up, that is. HOORRRAAYYYY !!!!
I'm sure Floris is pleased to be back home. Was he radiated for thyroid problems? This is what my cat has, radiation therapy isn't easy to get here but he would never had coped with being away from me for so long. He gets stressed if I am away from the house for more than a few hours. So he has to have a pill everyday.
Hi Angela, yes,he is pleased ! He had a very nasty sarcoma, which would have surely killed him by now if the radiation therapy hadn't been given, as an additional treatment after his operation. Most cats with this tumor die very quickly after the operation/diagnosis , or have to be euthanized soon. With this treatment he is a happy playful kitty, and even if the tumor might recur- which, basically, we do not expect, but it is not unthinkable- we have given him a lot of extra(and healthy) lifetime. So, although the hospitalization was stressful for him, too,it was worth it.
