Still doing real miniwork wasn't that easy; everything I tried turned out a disaster. Then , during my holidays I read an article in an old DH magazine about making a bunka rug. Thunk : I can do that ! So went to the website of Little Trimmings (UK) , then to this page ( scroll down ) and ordered some kits.
Tadaaah, here is the first result :
Not exactly your Great Master work, but it looks nice enough! It is 16.5 x 10.5 cm.

Sorry to hear about your health issues and I hope you do get some improvement over time. I understand about the early retirement, I had to do that myself 4 years ago due to some health issues. But this year I am finally back to being able to sit and stand long enough to begin tackling some wood working miniature projects again. Like you I did find other things I could do at the start of that time and that turned out to be a silver lining in the dark cloud that is helping to supplement my retirement income. You will no doubt find your own silver lining as you are the kind of person that can't be kept from getting the most out of your creative side.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karin ! There is a bIG silver lining : having time on my hands to do what I like, and no hurry with f.i. household chores (which have to be done regardless) . So I mostly enjoy it. Hardest for me is to get back to things that take more dexterity and concentration, but I trust that will come given time.

DeleteAgree about the rug, the technique is pretty simple and I think it looks fine . The Little Trimmings kits are quite good, actually.
