Hmmm, late again...

Honestly I had hoped to be able to post earlier. I made up two kits by Arjen Spinhoven , a table and a drawer-chest. The making up-part was the easy one, but painting them was quite a different animal ! I ended up throwing the chest out ( it is no fault of Arjen's, just mine :( )

Here is the table

Not a great pic, but I had nuff after 8 tries or so  ! :

And , this week , two other dollies by Debbie Dixon-Paver did arrive, hale and healthy :

Anne of Green Gables ( complete with very small freckles...):

and this beautifl Edwardian lady :

  2. Those kits are really nice. I looked at them at the last fair. Now I am very curious what you were trying to do when painting them. What effect were you after? Maybe spray painting works for them?
The dolls are lovely and I see a rather beautiful chest next to the beauty in lavender...Who made that piece?

    1. Josje, I used a gold underlayer (could have used spray paint, but did not have the right gold color) . The overlaying paint is brown-ish, dry brushed, which was what I was after.
The chest next to the lady was made by Chris Malcolmson.

    1. Thank you Giac, Arjen has some lovely kits, well designed . I plan on having a new go at that little chest again when I visit another fair and will buy another one :-) . Nil desperandum!

  4. Hi Elly! Your table looks Really good, and I love the carvings but I am sorry to hear that the chest didn't work out. Sometime it is best to let uncooperative projects "rest up a bit" before you make another stab at working on them :/

Your dolls are Wonderful and I am a Big Fan of Anne of Green Gables - your doll, the book and of course... the t.v. series. Yay Canada!

    1. Thank you Elizabeth! Yes, these kits are lovely. It does take some time, though, to finish them off .

  5. Hi Elly - your table looks great - very antique looking! Sorry to hear you had such trouble with the chest but glad to know someone else sometimes gives up on a troublesome piece. :) And the dolls are great - I especially like Anne because my youngest daughter (now 40!!!) loved the books when she was growing up and we both enjoyed the movies.

    1. Hi Mary Lynne, yes, his kits are great. I hope to start the next version of the drawer chest soon :-) .
In the meantime Tiffany made off with Anne and has made an invalid of her - she has 8 lives left now , grrrrr. You can read the story at petit pointers ....

  6. Beautiful table and lovely dolls Elly! The table is unusually intricate for a kit, it has so much detail. I am so sorry that Tiffany ate Ann's feet - naughty kitty! Good job she is so adorable, hmmm? Well, most of the time anyway.....

    1. Thank you Sandra, also for sending this comment twice , since with my clumsy fingers on the Ipad I had accidentally deleted your lovely comment (blushes and dives under table) .
Tiffany is a darling , but sometimes..... Well, sighs.
Arjen's kits are great indeed, I love them . They are well designed, too.
